Cool Things in Daddy's Truck
One afternoon, I met Keith in town at WalMart. We picked up a few things and, of course, John Davis wanted to ride home with his Daddy. When we got home, Keith said John Davis picked up these ear muffs in his truck and rode the whole way home with them on. He continued to wear them inside the house! He loves them! I guess he is getting ready to shoot skeet or either tune his parents out??? I am hoping it is the first and glad that he is will to protect his hearing.
Loving on Mommy
Hungry Hippos anyone?
I remember the game Hungry Hippos! My sister bought it for Gabby, who loves to play games. We went over to visit Gabby and Jolie one Saturday, and John Davis loved playing Hungry Hippos. He actually went around the whole game to play on all of the hippos. It was quite amazing to watch him entertain himself with this game.
Turkey Season is Creeping Near
As Keith prepares mentally for turkey season, the videos and calls come out. If I have seen one turkey video, I have seen them all. Don't you think after seeing one turkey being called in and shot, you've pretty much seen them all? Well, not according to Keith. The call has to be perfected which means listening to turkey calls over and over and over and over again. After hearing a turkey call for about 1400 times, it does get old for lack of a better word.
To make matters worse, John Davis has been lulled into this trap of turkey calling. I guess it is appealing to him to make sounds that aggravate his mother? Keith loves to play with John Davis and their new game is practicing turkey calling.
Playing "sock" with Cooper
One of John Davis' favorite thing to do it to aggravate our dog Cooper. He doesn't intentionally mean to aggravate Cooper, but John Davis feels it necessarry to pet, body slam or chase Cooper. One game that Cooper enjoys playing is "sock." Cooper somehow finds a sock in the house and he and John Davis play tug-of-war with the sock. It is funny to watch John Davis' expressions when Cooper conquers the game!
Being Outside is Great!
John Davis loves to be outside. He doesn't care if he is on the lawnmower, swing, or just being somewhere out there. I guess little boys love the outdoors. It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't freezing right now. We have bundled up in layers, hats, and gloves and the cold doesn't seem to bother John Davis. Me, yes, but I don't mind being cold if John Davis is happy!

Before I was a Mom.....
Before I was a Mom.....
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom...
I had never been puked on...
Pooped on...
Chewed on...
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom...
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom...
I ne ver held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him/her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom...
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom...
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.
