Christmas Pictures

I'm overwhelmed by trying to take down Christmas decorations, cleaning up after decorations and all of the wonderful pictures we have from Christmas. So, the journaling will be short!

John Davis on Christmas morning checking out his 4-wheeler.

A gun came with the 4-wheeler and this was by far his favorite toy Christmas morning. He was shooting anything and everything that moved, including the ducks in the pond out back.

First Tour of Homes

Welcome to my home! My very talented husband built it during the summer 2 years ago. We both teach school and stay busy with an 18 month old. It is a work in progress decorating. My extremely creative mother came over and helped me decorate for our 2nd Christmas in our house. I'm so excited about this idea from Rhoda.

Our Christmas Tree- I love glitzy ornaments and my husband is a hunter. We are compromising and having a glitzy tree downstairs and an "outdoorsy" tree upstairs in the "Man Cave."

Keith built the mantle and it was a big deal for me to stick thumb tacks to hang the stockings. We decorated with it with garland, a wreath, and candles on each side. There are lights, balls and berries in the garland that matches the wreath and tree. Yuck, I see a cord. I thought Frosty hid the cord.

Our telephone table decorated with snowmen. I thought I had the cords hidden with the black boxes underneath the table. Yuck, the camera picks up everything. The stocking hanging on the door is my husband's stocking his grandmother knitted for him when he was young.

Three Christmas trees when you walk in the front door. I have lights underneath the sheet and they look beautiful lit up at night.

The staircase that needs bigger bows next year! Another battle with the husband. No tacks could be used to hang the garland. So, my brilliant mother suggested fishing line. I also had forgotten my glue gun at school, so we had to hang the balls on the garland with fishing line. This was not a peaceful time getting this garland ready for my Christmas party the night before.

Here is our dining room. The picture is dark and does not do it justice. I love this room; it is open to the kitchen. We have 3 wreaths hung on each window that are decorated with ball ornaments and bows. In the middle of the table is a huge glass votive filled with Christmas ball ornaments.

These candles are in the corner of the dining room and I just added bows for Christmas.

This is my favorite nativity scene. I love looking at it and explaining the true meaning of the season to my son! He loves to hold baby Jesus.

What a creative idea from my mother? Just add some garland with a bow and some small ball ornaments to dress up a window!

Yes, another pair of trees at the corner of the dining room. Keith, my husband thinks you can have too many Christmas decorations, but I beg to differ. This is where my girlfriends put our ornaments for our ornament swap party.

This plate was a gift from my mother. She brought it to me when she came over to decorate! We put it on the kitchen bar with a tree and some other lime green and red decorations.

Thank you "G"

Papa, G, and Brayden came to visit us for Christmas. Gail is so crafty and made the grandkids these adorable outfits. Now, the real test was trying to get them all to smile, look, and not to move for the picture. Ha, ha!

Getting ready for Santa Claus

John Davis and I went to the Christmas Parade with Mom and Bobby. We had a great time until the sun went down and it began to get really cold. Gabby hadn't had a nap all day and did not want to smile for the camera. I loved this picture. She finally smiled when I told her I was going to get Santa Claus. The Heritage Praise Band sang before the parade started. All the kids loved dancing to the music. John Davis wanted to get on stage with Uncle Paulo. Gabby got on stage to sing Jingle Bells at the very end. She is a natural to say the least. Her foot was tapping the whole time!

Let me introduce you to Frosty

I was trying to get some pictures of John Davis and our Christmas tree. I have a "John Davis size" snowman that is very cute. Well, John Davis tried checking Frosty out. It started with pulling Frosty's nose and it ended up wrestle-mania in my living room. I think John Davis one that round.

Helping Mommy Cook

John Davis loves to watch and do whatever you are doing. One night I was making spaghetti and John Davis had gotten these pots and pans out of the cabinet and was stirring and saying mmmm. I guess he enjoyed making whatever it was that he was making!

Thanksgiving in Dothan

Gabby and John Davis playing with the pumpkin decorations. John Davis threw one in for a touchdown. Oops, I hope no one saw!
Uncle Paulo teaching John Davis how to play the piano. I sure hope John Davis gets some of his talents!
Flying high in the sky makes John Davis smile! Actually, spending any time with his Dad makes him happy!
Trying to get a family shot!

The whole family loaded up in vehicles and headed off to Dothan at 8:00. Well, that was the plan. We had to turn around because Mine forgot her medicine. After turning around, everyone was ready for a long trip. Gabby packed her DVD player which was very smart. I wish I was the one who invented those. Anyway, we all took our usual dish, and as usual, it was way too much. There were plenty of left overs as always. The kids played outside because Jolie and I were too nervous to let them play inside Aunt Tina's pretty house. Before having John Davis I never realized how many things were breakable! Anyway, we had a great time and always look forward to Thanksgiving each year.

Fall Festival at Uncle Ricky's House

We stopped by Keith's brother's house for a Fall Festival. John Davis loved seeing all of the animals. The older kids were bobbing for apples and John Davis jumped right in for his fair share!

Before I was a Mom.....

Before I was a Mom.....
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom...
I had never been puked on...
Pooped on...
Chewed on...
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom...
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom...
I ne ver held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him/her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom...
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom...
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.
