Our Prince Charming's Halloween

We had a great time dressing John Davis up for Halloween. He was a frog. I practiced with him hopping and saying "ribbet," but he was too interested in socializing with the other children and getting the candy. I thought he would be shy going up to people, but he wasn't. He learned quickly where the candy was coming from. Once he saw a basket, he went to reaching for it. We had a great time with our friends this past "Trunk or Treat" night!

Cheering on the "Dawgs"

John Davis tried his best to cheer on the Dawgs against Alabama, but Georgia just couldn't pull out a win. He was trying to show them his moves at Uncle Ricky's house, but Coach Richt obviously couldn't hear him! John Davis was also trying to talk some sense into his new friend Jessie as to why she had on that Bama cheerleader outfit.

Our 1st Family Goose Hunt

Keith has been after me to go hunting with him. I have always told him no because hunting for bargains sounds more of a hobby than hunting for birds, deer, ducks, etc. Well, I finally gave in because of John Davis. Every evening when the geese come in to our pond, John Davis runs to the window to watch them. Keith tugged at my heart strings and said that John Davis would love it. Well, we all put on our hunting gear (I had to wear Keith's camo) and headed off to a peanut field. Keith found us a perfect spot to camp out. John Davis and I loved eating the left over peanuts the farmers missed while Keith listened for geese. The best part of the hunt was not having to be quiet and this cow that came by to visit while we were there!

My 30th Birthday

My whole family went out to eat for my 30th birthday. I didn't want it to be a big deal, but I kept making comments about hanging on to 29. Well, Keith thought it would be funny to order me a black birthday cake with 30 candles. I thought the smoke alarm was going to go off at Old Mexico when I blew out the candles. I think now that I am 30 and thriving! Ha, ha!

John Davis loves to read.

Homecoming Parade

Keith, John Davis and I met my sister Jolie and her daughter Gabby at the Homecoming Parade. I believe we have a future cheerleader and football player on our hands.

Gammie's Birthday

We celebrated my grandmother's 89th birthday on July 31st. She keeps up with the best of us! Everyone went over to my mother's house to celebrate the joyous occasion! We enjoyed each other's company. John Davis wasn't too excited about posing for pictures! We're working on saying "cheese."

Next to last summer vacation

Keith has been taking summer classes and he finally finished two weeks before we had to start back to school. We decided to drive to Ashville, NC to visit Lesley. Our original plans were to white water raft, but the river was too low. It hadn't rained in a while. So, Lelsey, being the great tour guide, decided to take us to hike a part of the Appalachian Trail. We had this handy backpack John Davis could "ride" in and we headed off. We hiked about 10 miles and John Davis enjoyed the whole trip. He fell asleep about 5 minutes before reaching out vehicle heading back.

Around the house

John Davis does everything Keith does. When Keith puts on his shoes, John Davis wants to put on his shoes, even if we aren't going anywhere. Keith told me he needed to go work outside, so John Davis found his boots and tried to put them on. It was hilarious to see him standing in them. They are just about as tall as his legs are long.

Keith and I love to be outside, especially working in the yard. John Davis got this lawn mower from our dear friends for his birthday. Here he is helping Mommy and Daddy mow the grass.

John Davis' new hiding place is under the dining room table. He loves to crawl up, around, and under things. I have found him many times under this table. I wonder what he is thinking when he is hiding!

I have always heard the saying that children learn by seeing. Well, obviously John Davis has seen me sweet a time or two. He was actually bending down with the dust pan trying to brush dirt into it.

Trinity's Birthday Party

We went to Longhorn's in Tifton for Trinity's birthday. Everyone ate and had a great time.

Trinity, Caden, Kali, and John Davis pose for a picture outside.

1st visit to Chuck E. Cheese

John Davis loved riding in the car with Chuck E. Cheese. He rode the whole ride and didn't want to get off!

Driving a car is right up John Davis' alley. He made all of the noises to go along with the car ride....vrrooom!

Stopping to say hey to Mr. Chuck E. Cheese himself. Gabby didn't want to pose in the picture.

Jolie, Gabby and John Davis had to change in their tickets for a prize. Gabby ended up with a pink flower ring.

Bass Pro Shop in Destin, FL

According to Keith, we couldn't be down at the beach and not visit the Bass Pro Shop in Destin. So, we took John Davis to go shopping. He loved seeing all of the animals there.
This duck was on display with some t-shirts that were folded up on the table. I'm driving the stroller and all of a sudden I hear John Davis continuing to repeat "duck, duck, duck." Finally, I found the duck he saw on the table. We had to hang around so he could play with the duck for a while!
Boy, did John Davis love seeing the fish swim by in the huge fish tank at Bass Pro. Here are some pictures of us with John Davis looking at the fish.

Before I was a Mom.....

Before I was a Mom.....
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom...
I had never been puked on...
Pooped on...
Chewed on...
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom...
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom...
I ne ver held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him/her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom...
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom...
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.
