Learning to walk with my squeaky shoes

John Davis has 3 pair of squeaky shoes that he wears. He loves hearing them squeak. Sometimes, he stomps his feet just to hear them. We were hoping these would encourage him to begin walking on his own. Luckily, the squeakers come out.

My 1st Mother's Day

What a joy it was to celebrate Mother's Day. I finally know what my mother meant when she said there is nothing like a mother's love!

My 1st Micky Mouse Ears

Paulo, Jolie, and Gabby brought John Davis back these Micky Mouse Ears from Disney World. John Davis loves wearing them. He points to them in the closet when he wants to wear them!

Helping Mommy load the dish washer

Learning about his "green thumb"

Keith loves to work in the yard and with flowers. How tempting was it for John Davis NOT to get into this potting soil?

John Davis loves eating at the Waffle House!

Keith and I split the "All Star Breakfast" and we shared with John Davis one Sunday morning before church. He ate a lot of the the eggs, toast, grits and waffle. Needless to say, this won't be our last visit!

John Davis goes to the Beach!

Brushing my teeth with Papa!

Eating mashed potatoes with Grandaddy!

Hanging out with Maw!

My favorite place to eat breakfast is Thomas Donuts at the beach. I shared my blueberry donuts with him and he felt the same way...yummy!

We didn't actually go down to the beach because we knew it would take a few truck loads to get everything needed for John Davis: towels, sunscreen, snacks, proper shade, drinks, more sunscreen, etc. So, we just set up beach on the back porch of Mimi's. John Davis loved playing in the water!

John Davis with a real bunny!

Thanks to Mrs. Barbara, my mother-in-law, for taking John Davis to have his Easter pictures taken with a real bunny rabbit. This picture turned out very cute, I think. Mrs. Barbara said that she felt sorry for the bunny because John Davis loved pulling his long, fuzzy ears! I guess he thought the bunny was similar to Cooper, our dog, who lets John Davis get away with pulling his ears!

Easter Day

John Davis' 1st Easter Egg Hunt

We went over to Ricky's & Stephanie's house yesterday for an Easter Egg hunt with all of John Davis' cousins. They were very kind to let him get the eggs out in plain sight! After John Davis found two, one for each hand, he was through hunting eggs.

What Powdered Donuts?

John Davis loves powdered donuts as much as Keith and I do. Now I have someone to blame the empty bag on! Ha, ha!

Getting ready...

for fishing season! It was such a beautiful day, Keith, John Davis and I were all outside spending some time together. Keith was giving John Davis lessons on fishing and planning their first fishing trip in our pond. I don't know who was more excited, Keith or John Davis?

Playing with Grandpa

Playing at Uncle Ricky's House

We went over to Keith's brother's house and everyone enjoyed playing with John Davis. First the kids were playing with him, then Keith and Ricky began playing with John Davis. I don't' know if you call this dress up or just having a good laugh. Afterwards, John Davis "sacked out" in Ricky's lap!

Hat Day

Here some pictures of John Davis with his favorite hat. He tries to be just like his daddy!

Before I was a Mom.....

Before I was a Mom.....
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom...
I had never been puked on...
Pooped on...
Chewed on...
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom...
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom...
I ne ver held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put him/her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom...
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom...
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.
